At 10.20 a.m. on I4th August, 1966, a small sailing boat was seen being carried to seaward by the wind and tide. At 10.40 the life-boat Mabel E. Holland was launched in a fresh westerly wind and a choppy sea. It was one hour and a half after high water. The life-boat took the two occupants on board and towed the boat back to Dungeness.
