Valentia, Co. Kerry - At 5.15 p.m.

on 29th August, 1966, it was learnt that a small open fishing boat with six men on board was missing. It was presumed to be sheltering near Puffin island. At 5.35 the life-boat Rowland Watts was launched in a strong westerly wind and a rough sea.

The casualty was found in the lee of Puffin island and escorted to harbour. The lifeboat returned to her moorings at 8.30..
