A Boat (1)

At 5 p.m. on 25th July, 1966, information was received that a boat had beendriven ashore at Ballycreenan Strand, three and a half miles north east of Ballycotton. A search was carried out along the shore but without success. The life-boat Ethel Mary proceeded at 6.15 in a strong south-westerly wind and a choppy sea. It was one and a half hours after low water. The life-boat, towing her boarding boat, searched the north side of the bay as far as Knockadoon Head and then received a message that the boat had been driven into a cave. She returned to Centre Strand and found the boat with her owner in the cave. The life-boat towed the boat, with her owner still aboard, back to Ballycotton, arriving at 10 o'clock..
