Violet Sinclair
Barmouth, Merionethshire - At 8.55 a.m. on 22nd March, 1966, the police informed the honorary secretary that a fishing boat, the Violet Sinclair, had been seen three miles south west of Barmouth firing red flares. At 9.10 the life-boat The Chieftain was launched in a fresh breeze from the north west and a moderate sea.
It was one hour after high water. She reached the Violet Sinclair and found that the boat had developed engine trouble two miles south west of the Fairway buoy.
A rope was passed aboard and the boat with three men on board was towed back to harbour, arriving at eleven o'clock..
