Hastings, Sussex-At 8.30p.m. on25th May, 1966, the honorary secretary was informed that a small fishing boat was burning a red flare in a position one mile east of the life-boat station. The life-boat Fairlight was launched at 8.42 in a fresh south-westerly wind and a choppy sea.
It was low water. She found that the fishing boat Deano had developed engine trouble after hitting a balk of timber. A line was passed to the casualty and the life-boat towed her back to Hastings. The life-boat returned to her station at 9.16 p.m..
