Aldeburgh, Suffolk - At 8.5 a.m. on 26th May, 1966, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the catamaran Comanche had requested assistance as she was drifting towards Orfordness, dragging her anchor. The life-boat Alfred and Patience Gottwald was launched at 8.25 in a moderate west north westerly wind and a moderate sea. It was one hour before low water.
