White Wings

Arranmore, Co. Donegal. At 7 p.m.

on 9th December, 1965, the honorary secretary was told that the local fishing boat White Wings was dragging her moorings and was in danger of becoming a complete wreck. There was no one aboard.

As her owner offered to pay all expenses, the life-boat W. M. Tilson set out at 8 p.m. in a north-westerly gale force wind and very rough seas. The tide was flooding. The life-boat reached the drifting boat and towed her back to Arranmore, arriving at ten o'clock. The owner of the vessel made a donation to the funds of the Institution..
