The Dowsing Lightvessel
Hutnber, Yorkshire. At 6.40 p.m. on 29th January, 1966, the coastguard informed the coxswain superintendent that the Dowsing lightvessel had requested assistance in landing a sick man. The lifeboat City of Bradford III was launched at 6.50 in a strong south westerly breeze and a very rough sea. It was three hours to high water. The life-boat proceeded to the lightvessel where the sick man was transferred to her and she returned to her station, arriving at 3.am. the next morning.
The life-boat was rehoused nine and a half hours later due to adverse weather conditions..
