At 7.31 p.m. on i4th December, 1965, the coastguard notified the honorary secretary that the Gorton lightvessel had on board her a man suffering from severe toothache who needed dental treatment. The life-boat Edward and Isabella Irviin, on temporary duty at the station, was launched at 7.55 in a moderate south-westerly breeze and a calm sea. It was one hour after low water.

She took the man with toothache off the lightvessel and landed him at Gorleston at 9.54 p.m..
