The Aberdeen Trawler Admiral Mountbatten

Wick, Caithness-shire. At 5.30 p.m.

on loth December, 1965, the harbour master was informed that the Aberdeen trawler Admiral Mountbatten was arriving in Wick Bay with an injured man on board. A pilot boat took the injured man off and shortly afterwards the trawler grounded on the north side of the bay.

The life-boat City of Edinburgh was launched in a fresh north-westerly breeze and a slight swell. The tide was ebbing.

She stood by until the trawler re-floated and returned to her station at 9.30 p.m..
