CABIN CRUISER AGROUND Southend-on-Sea, Essex. At 6.40 p.m. on 8th September, 1965, a cabin cruiser was seen by the coastguard to be in difficulties off Warden Point. There was a full gale from the south-west with a rough sea. The life-boat Greater London II (Civil Service No. 30) was launched at 7.15 on a flooding tide. After a search with the aid of parachute flares and her searchlight she found the cabin cruiser Vulfrano aground on the Maplin Sand, south-east of Maplin Buoy. The two people aboard were rescued and with the Vulfrano in tow the life-boat returned to her station, arriving at 2.10 a.m. on the 9th..
