The Herring Boat Fisher Lads

Dungeness, Kent. At 8.10 a.m. on 3rd November, 1965, a local fisherman told the honorary secretary that a fishing boat, half a mile south of Dungeness, was flying a distress signal. The lifeboat Mabel E. Holland was launched at 8.28 a.m. in a gentle northerly breeze and a moderate sea. It was two hours after high water. The life-boat went to the position given and found the herring boat Fisher Lads with her net caught in both propellers. She was drifting out to sea. The life-boat towed the Fisher Lads back to Dungeness and reached her station at 9.8 a.m..
