CHILD TO HOSPITAL Stronsay, Orkneys. At 3.25 p.m. on 11 th October, 1965, the secretary of the hospital board told the honorary secretary that there was a child on the Isle of Sanday in need of urgent hospital treatment. The life-boat The John Gellatly Hyndman proceeded at 3.45 in a light south-south-westerly breeze and a slight swell. It was two hours to low water. She arrived at Sanday at 4.20 and took the boy and a nurse on board, then proceeded to Kirkwall, arriving at 6.45. The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance. The nurse was taken back to Sanday and landed at 10.15. The lifeboat reached her station at 11 p.m..
