on nth November, 1965, the coxswain told the honorary secretary that the motor fishing boat Guide Me had not returned to harbour with the rest of the fishing fleet, following a gale warning. The lifeboat Jane Hay was launched in a southeasterly gale and a rough sea, two and a half hours after high water. After a search she came upon the Guide Me steaming towards St. Abbs. The life-boat escorted her back into harbour and returned to her station at 11.35 a.m..
