Fishing Vessels (1)

Arbroath, Angus. At 12.25 P-m- on 12th November, 1965, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the fishing fleet which was out was shortly due to return and that the harbour bar was dangerous. The life-boat The Duke of Montrose was launched at 12.45 in a south-easterly gale and a very rough sea.

It was two and a half hours after low water. The life-boat escorted twenty fishing vessels over the bar into harbour, a task she had accomplished by 2.30, but the life-boat could not be rehoused for forty-eight hours..
