Holyhead, Anglesey. At 4.15 a.m. on 22nd September, 1965, the m.v. Farringay was reported by the coastguard to have broken down twenty miles west of South Stack lighthouse. She did not require immediate assistance. At 8.50 the honorary secretary was informed that the Farringay was asking for the help of the life-boat. There was a gale from the southsouth- west with a rough sea. The tide was flooding. The life-boat St. Cybi (Civil Service No. 9) launched at 9.5 and came up with the Farringay, which had been taken in tow by the m.v. Firth Fisher. At the request of the master of the Farringay the life-boat escorted both vessels to Moelfre, returning to her station at 7.18 p.m..
