Vassan Girl

YACHT AGROUND North Foreland radio station reported at 3.31 p.m. on 25th July, 1965, that a yacht was aground one and a half miles west of Mid Barrow lightvessel. No distress signals had been fired by the yacht but she had a heavy list. The life-boat Sir Godfrey Baring was launched at 4.14 in a fresh south-westerly wind and a choppy sea. It was low water. She found the yacht Vassan Girl with a crew of three grounded on West Barrow Sands and stood by until the yacht refloated. The life-boat then returned to her station arriving at 8.7 p.m..
