Tamar

Falmouth, Cornwall. At 8.18 p.m.

on i2th August, 1965, the police said that a small yacht, Tamar, required assistance off Swanpool Beach. Her engine had broken down. The life-boat Cecil and Lilian Philpott, on temporary duty at the station, left her moorings at 8.30. The weather was good with a light easterly breeze and a moderate sea. At 8.59 the life-boat took the yacht in tow with two people on board, and returned to her moorings at 10.30 p.m..
