Royal Humane Society Testimonial

The Royal Humane Society has awarded a testimonial on parchment to Mr.

William Dryden, motor mechanic of the Whitby life-boat, for his rescue on 5th May, 1965, of a three year old girl who had fallen into the lower harbour.

Mr. Dryden jumped into the water and pulled her out, though he went under himself.

This is the second time Mr. Dryden has received a testimonial from the Royal Humane Society. His first was also for rescuing a child from the lower harbour - an 11 year old boy.

Mr. Dryden holds an RNLI bronze medal and three certificates for gallantry..
