At approximately 7.45 p.m. on 28th July, 1965, the Instructor Petty Officer, Parkstone Sea Cadets, reported to the honorary secretary that a sailing craft with four cadets on board was in difficulties a quarter of a mile south of the station. The IRB launched immediately in a strong gusting to near gale.
