The Poo

Weymouth, Dorset. At 10.35 p.m.

on I5th May, 1965, the coastguard informed the coxswain that red flares had been seen between Weymouth and Portland harbour. The coxswain informed a member of the inshore rescue scheme who put out in his boat The Eileen. After further consultation with the coastguard it was decided to send the life-boat Frank Spiller Locke as well, and she put to sea at 11.7 in a light south-westerly breeze. There was a slight sea and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat came up with The Eileen towing the motor boat The Poo, whose engine had broken down, and escorted them to Weymouth, arriving at 11.37..
