Nore Vienna
Bembridge, Isle of Wight. At 2.42 p.m. on lyth April, 1965, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the British ship Clangula had taken the schooner Nore Vienna, which had her sails blown away, in tow eight miles south of the Nab. At 4.5 the Clangula reported that she was three miles off Shanklin and would soon have to cast off the tow. At 4.12 the life-boat Jesse Lumb was launched into a fresh west-north-westerly breeze and rough sea. The tide was ebbing. The life-boat took the Nore Vienna in tow at 4.29 and reached Bembridge at 5.40, but as it was low water they were unable to enter the harbour.
The life-boat towed the Nore Vienna to Cowes where she was moored at 8 o'clock.
The life-boat returned to her station at 11.30 p.m..
