PROPELLER LOST At 9.23 p.m. on 2yth June, 1965, the honorary secretary heard from the coastguard that a coble four miles north-east of Whitby was waving a flag. The lifeboat Mary Ann Hepworth was launched at 9.30. There was a gentle westerly breeze and a slight sea. It was low water.

The life-boat sighted the coble flashing a torch and came up with her at 10.10.

The coble, Mary, had three men on board and had lost her propeller. She was towed in to harbour and the life-boat returned to her station at 10.40 p.m..
