TROUBLE WITH NETS Newbiggin, Northumberland. At 10 p.m. on 26th April, 1965, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that four cobles, situated north-east of Newbiggin Church Point, were at sea in worsening weather conditions. The lifeboat Richard Ashley was launched in a very rough sea and gale force northeasterly wind. It was two hours and a half before high water. The coble Eventide had meanwhile returned to harbour and the life-boat then proceeded to the assistance of the coble Mary Robinson which was having difficulty in hauling in her nets. A member of the life-boat's crew was put aboard to help and the life-boat escorted the coble to Blyth. The life boat escorted the coble to Blyth. The lifeboat then returned to her station arriving at 5 a.m. on the 2yth April..
