Ramsgate, Kent. At 1.38 p.m. on 2nd May, 1965, the east pier watchman saw a small boat in difficulties east of Ramsgate harbour. The life-boat Elizabeth Elson, on temporary duty at the station, went out at 1.45 in a light southsouth- easterly breeze and a smooth sea.
It was one hour after high water. The life-boat found the motor boat Joannie, with three people on board, disabled with a rope around her propeller. The motor boat was taken in tow and the life-boat reached her station at 2.30 p.m..
