The Helwick Lightvessel

The Mumbles, Glamorganshire. At 10.15 a-m- on 23fd January, 1965, Trinity House, Swansea, informed the honorary secretary that one of the crew of the Helwick lightvessel was sick and as the Trinity House vessel Alert was not available the use of the life-boat was requested. At n o'clock the life-boat William Gammon-Manchester and District XXX was launched with a doctor on board in a fresh south westerly breeze and a smooth sea. The tide was ebbing. The life-boat drew alongside the Helwick lightvessel at 12.50 p.m. and the doctor went aboard. Half an hour later the lifeboat left with patient on board and she reached her station at 4 o'clock when the sick man was landed..
