An Amphibious Craft

AMPHIBIOUS CRAFT SANK Moelfre, Anglesey. At 3.30 p.m. on 18th February, 1965, the coastguard informed the coxswain that an amphibious craft with five men on board, employed to make improvements to a sewage pipe for the local authorities, had sunk suddenly. Three men had reached the shore but two other men were missing.

At 4.20 the life-boat Watkin Williams was launched in calm air and a smooth sea, to search for the missing men. It was two hours before low water. The bodies of the missing men were recovered at 5.40 and the life-boat returned to her station at 6.05. Three survivors were taken to hospital by helicopter..
