SICK MEN LANDED Penlee, Cornwall. At midday on ist January, 1965, the honorary secretary was informed that a sick man needed to be landed from the motor vessel American Shipper, at approx. 3 p.m. The lifeboat Solomon Browne launched at 2.50 proceeded to Newlyn to pick up a doctor and ambulance crew in a moderate west north westerly wind and a moderate sea.
It was one hour and a half before high water. The life-boat arrived alongside the motor vessel at 3.55 and the sick man was transferred to her. The life-boat then returned to Newlyn, arriving at 5 o'clock and was re-housed at 2 p.m. the next day..
