DOCTOR ON BOARD At 10.20 a.m. on i5th November, 1964, the local doctor told the honorary secretary that a seriously ill child on the island of Inishere needed medical attention. The sea was rough with a near gale force north-westerly wind and it was three hours before high water when, at n a.m., the life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson put to sea with the doctor on board. The child was taken from Inishere to Rossaveel.

From there an ambulance took him into hospital for treatment for appendicitis. The life-boat returned to her station at 4.45 p.m..
