OUT OF CONTROL Dover, Kent. At 9.1 p.m. on 3oth August, 1964, the police informed the honorary secretary that a small flare had been sighted to seawards. It was two hours before low water and very calm. At 9.16 the life-boat Southern Africa put to sea. After half an hour she found the cabin cruiser Tonibell of Folkestone, which was out of control because both her engines had failed 3^ miles west of Dover. She was towed into Dover where the life-boat was remoored at 10.55..
