FLARE OFF DOVER At 8.12 p.m. on yth September, 1964, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a flare had been seen one mile south-west of Dover. With the tide at one hour's flood the life-boat Southern Africa put out into a rough sea and fresh south-westerly breeze to find the yacht Stroma which was making water while her engine had also failed. She was towed into Dover, and the life-boat was remoored at 11.45. The owner of the yacht made a donation to the funds of the Institution..
