SWIMMER TAKEN ABOARD On 3rd August, 1964, while the reserve life-boat White Star, on temporary service at Porthdinllaen, was returning from a regatta at Aberdaron, a swimmer was seen swimming against a very strong tide race between Maen Mellt and the mainland.
He was not making any headway at all though the sea was slight with light airs from the west. After being taken aboard the life-boat he was later transferred to a small boat and then taken ashore, the life-boat continuing on her way to Porthdinllaen..
