COBLE IN DANGER At 9.29 p.m. on 28th August, 1964, the coastguard told the coxswain that two red flares had been observed dose inshore near Speeton look-out. There was a slight sea and it was one hour after low water.
At 9.32 the life-boat The Isa & Penryn Milsted was launched to investigate and found the coble Margaret and James in danger of running aground because her engine had failed. The life-boat towed her to Filey and returned to her station at 11.30..
