Andrew (Civil Service No. 10), which was on a publicity launch in Girvan harbour, left at 6.15, and 15 minutes later she found the becalmed catamaran Karela with nine people on board. She had run out of fuel and was taken in tow to Girvan.

The life-boat returned to her moorings at 6.45..
