VERY HEAVY SEA North Sunderland, Northumberland.

At 8.30 a.m. on i2th September, 1964, the life-boat's mechanic informed the honorary secretary that five small fishing boats were out and that a very heavy sea was running across the harbour mouth.

At 9.15 the life-boat Grace Darling was launched to stand by at the harbour entrance until the boats were safely in on the ebb tide. The life-boat returned at 10.25..
