ICELANDIC VESSEL Longhope, Orkneys. At i p.m. on i6th September, 1964, the coastguard told the honorary secretary that the Icelandic fishing vessel Farsaell was adrift in moderate seas off Torness. She had engine trouble and required immediate help. At 1.20 the life-boat T.G.B. was launched into a moderate south-westerly breeze and a corresponding sea. It was low water. At 2 p.m. she found the Icelandic vessel 2§ miles west of Torness. At that time the British trawler Lord Alexander was attempting to take the fishing vessel in tow and the life-boat took a towing hawser from the trawler to the fishing vessel. The life-boat escorted both vessels to Stroma Island and returned to her station at 4.4..
