FATAL FALL At 3.9 p.m. on 23rd May, 1964, the Great Yarmouth police informed the honorary secretary that a man had fallen into the river at the yacht station. The tide was almost at low water. There was a moderate north-easterly breeze with a rough sea. The life-boat Louise Stephens was launched at 3.15 and the inshore rescue boat also searched. After searching unsuccessfully for nearly two hours the life-boat returned to her station at 4.30.

The body of the missing man was not recovered for seven days..
