Two Fishing Vessels (1)

DANGEROUS SWELL North Sunderland, Northumberland.

At 11.38 a.m. on 24th February, 1964, the coastguard told the honorary secretary that two fishing vessels were trying to enter harbour when there was a heavy and dangerous swell on the bar.

There was a light southerly breeze with a very rough sea, and it was almost high water. The life-boat Grace Darling launched at midday and stood by at the harbour entrance until the two boats were safely in. She returned to her station at 12.25 P-m-.
