The S.S. Eva Jeanette

SICK MAN ON BOARD St. Mary's, Scilly Islands. At 9.45 a.m. on 6th January, 1964, the Penlee honorary medical adviser informed the honorary secretary that the s.s. Eva Jeanette, due off the Bishop's lighthouse at 5 p.m., had a sick man on board.

There was a moderate south-easterly breeze with a corresponding sea. It was one hour before low water. The life-boat Guy and Clare Hunter, with a doctor on board, launched at 3.30 p.m. and reached the Eva Jeanette at five o'clock. The sick man was transferred to the lifeboat, which arrived back at her station at 6.15..
