The city of San Remo, Italy, is to award a Figurehead of Courage annually to the seaman whose tech- nical and human skill in an action at sea shows the sea-faring spirit at its greatest.

The period to be considered for the first award of the prize - on loth June this year - runs from ist June, 1960. Seamen of any nationality and rank are eligible.

Coxswain Hubert Ernest Petit, of St. Peter Port, Guernsey, has been recommended by the R.N.L.I. in connection with the service to the Norwegian vessel Johan Collett in February, 1963, for which he was awarded the gold medal..
