LOBSTER BOAT SOUGHT Anxiety was felt about the local lobster fishing boat Mayflower which had put out at ii a.m. on i6th March, 1964, and had not returned five hours later. Weather conditions were rapidly deteriorating and there was a full gale from the south-east with a very rough sea. After discussion with the coastguard it was decided that the life-boat should investigate. The lifeboat Archibald and Alexander M. Paterson launched at 4 p.m. and carried out a search through the Hoy Sound. The Mayflower was sighted at 4.50 and escorted safely into harbour. The life-boat arrived back at her station at 5.45..
