DOCTOR'S MISSION At i.20 p.m. on 8th November, 1963, the local medical officer informed the honorary secretary that a patient was in need of medical attention on Inishere Island, and asked for the use of the lifeboat in case the patient had to be conveyed to hospital. There was a strong south-westerly breeze with a moderate sea. The tide was ebbing. The life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson embarked the doctor at Kilronan and landed him on Inishere Island.
