DOCTOR'S MISSION At i.20 p.m. on 8th November, 1963, the local medical officer informed the honorary secretary that a patient was in need of medical attention on Inishere Island, and asked for the use of the lifeboat in case the patient had to be conveyed to hospital. There was a strong south-westerly breeze with a moderate sea. The tide was ebbing. The life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson embarked the doctor at Kilronan and landed him on Inishere Island. As it was not necessary to take the patient to hospital the lifeboat returned to her station at 6.15..
