Joan and Mary, and Trump

ESCORT FOR FOUR At 9.30 a.m. on 4th November, 1963, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that four fishing cobles were at sea and that the weather was rapidly deteriorating. There was a near gale from the east-south-east with a rough sea. The tide was ebbing. The life-boat The ha & Penryn Milsted launched at 10.5 and escorted the two cobles to safety. The lifeboat returned and found the coble Joan and Mary with engine trouble. The coble was towed to Filey and the life-boat put out again and soon found the last coble, Trump, just north of Flamborough. The Trump was escorted safely back to Filey and the life-boat returned to her station, arriving at 2.35 p.m..
