SAILING FAMILY RESCUED Dover, Kent. At 5.34 p.m. on Sunday the 29th September, 1963, a message was received that a yacht was in difficulties and was trying to make the harbour in a fresh to strong westerly breeze and a rough sea. The life-boat Southern Africa left her moorings at 5.55 on a flooding tide. The life-boat found the yacht Venus, of Southampton, half a mile off the east entrance to the harbour with the owner, his wife and two small children on board. The yacht's mainsail and foresail had blown away and her engine had broken down. She was taken in tow and brought safely into harbour. The lifeboat returned to her moorings at 7.15..
