SMOKE SIGNALS SAVE YACHT Salcombe, South Devon. At 6.5 p.m.

on Saturday the 17th of August, 1963, the Prawle Point coastguard reported to the honorary secretary that smoke signals had been seen south of Bolt Head. At 6.10 the life-boat The Baltic Exchange was launched in a fresh north-northwesterly wind and a slight sea. It was half an hour after high water. The lifeboat found the yacht Thuella four miles south of Start Point, took her in tow to Salcombe Harbour, and returned to her station at 9.40..
