SICK SEAMAN TAKEN OFF FINNISH STEAMER Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, Norfolk.

At 8.24 p.m. on Sunday the 14th of July, 1963, the Gorleston coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the Finnish steamer Salomo, in Yarmouth roads, was flying the international signal indicating a doctor was required. There was a moderate southwesterly wind with a moderate sea running on the last hour of the ebb.

The life-boat Louise Stephens was launched at 8.30 with a doctor on board.

The man was found to be unconscious and was transferred to the life-boat in a stretcher. He was taken back to harbour, transferred to a waiting ambulance and rushed to hospital. The honorary secretary later learned that the man had been taken off the danger list and was progressing satisfactorily..
