YACHT BREAKS FROM MOORINGS Beaumaris, Anglesey. At mid-day on Monday the 26th August, 1963, the yacht Galata broke away from her moorings off Beaumaris. A near gale was blowing from the south-west and there was a rough sea. The life-boat Field Marshal and Mrs. Smuts had been secured to the lee side of the pier awaiting a break in the weather before she could be rehoused following a service the previous evening. No other boat powerful enough to take the yacht in tow was available, so it was decided to send the life-boat. She took the Galata in tow and returned to the pier at three o'clock..
