Two Cobles
COBLES ESCORTED INTO TWO HARBOURS Newbiggin, Northumberland. At 8.52 on the morning of the 28th June, 1963, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that there were two cobles at sea and the weather was gradually becoming worse. The life-boat Richard Ashley was launched at 9.32 in a strong north-north-easterly breeze and a choppy sea. It was high water. The life-boat escorted one coble to Newbiggin and the other to Blyth and reached her station at 11.15..
