SICK WOMAN BROUGHT FROM ISLAND Galway Bay. At eleven o'clock on the night of the 2nd June, 1963, the local doctor received a call to attend a woman on Middle Island of Aran who was reported to be seriously ill. There was no other boat available, and at 11.30 the life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson was launched in a light north-easterly wind and a slight sea. It was low water. The life-boat took the doctor to the island, where the woman was embarked. She was then taken to Rossaveel pier, where an ambulance was waiting.
