Bread Winner and Coronation Queen
COXSWAIN'S COBLE ESCORTED INTO HARBOUR Runswick, Yorkshire. At 11.49 on the morning of the 18th January, 1963, three fishing cobles were at sea in deteriorating weather and some concern was felt for their safety when they would enter harbour. At 12.5 the life-boat The Elliott Gill was launched with the bowman in command, as the coxswain and the second coxswain were at sea in one of the fishing cobles, Bread Winner.
There was a strong easterly breeze and a rough sea. It was two hours before low water. The life-boat found the Bread Winner off Staithes, and when the coxswain had been transferred to the life-boat to take over command, this fishing coble and a second coble, Coronation Queen, were escorted safely into harbour. As the third coble had already reached harbour, the life-boat returned to her station, arriving at 2.25..
